Our methodology

How we verify every listing

A directory is only useful if you can trust what's in it. Every venue on Sauna Scout is checked by a real verification pass against official sources before it publishes — and venues that don't clear the bar are held back, never padded in.

Confirm it's actually open

We check that the business is currently operating — not "coming soon," not permanently closed, not a development deal that never opened. If the official site is down or there's no sign of life, the listing waits.

Match the right business

Same names happen. We cross-check the address against the official site, Google Business Profile, and business filings so we never list the wrong same-named venue in your city.

Verify the sauna is real

Amenities must be confirmed on the venue's official website or official social channels — not just a third-party aggregator. For gyms, spas, and hotels, we only list sauna amenities the venue itself advertises.

Label heat types honestly

We tag a sauna as traditional only when the venue describes dry, traditional, Finnish, or wood-fired heat. Infrared, steam, cold plunge, and contrast tags each need their own evidence. No guessing from photos.

Pricing only from official sources

Any price shown comes from the venue's own site. We never invent prices, and we show exactly what the venue publishes — intro offers, day passes, or memberships.

Two kinds of listings

  • Studios & bathhouses — dedicated sauna, cold plunge, and contrast venues. Deep-verified: every amenity confirmed.
  • Gyms, spas & hotels — listed only when the venue itself advertises sauna or steam amenities. Badged by type so you know what you're getting.

What "verified" doesn't mean

  • We're a curated directory, not a census — we don't claim to list every sauna in America.
  • Hours, prices, and offerings change. Confirm with the venue before visiting.
  • Listings are re-checked when flagged. Spotted something outdated? Tell us and we'll fix it.
